Navratri 2024: A Complete Guide to Navratri Prasad Offerings for Each Tithi

Navratri is a nine-day celebration honouring nine different manifestations of the Goddess Shakti, Durga. Durga's nine forms, also known as Navdurga, are worshipped during this festival. Navratri Puja contributions and prasad are highly valued in Hindu culture. The Goddess' devotees keep fast for nine days, and according to Hindu culture, the Navratri fast is deemed to be complete only after offering Navratri Puja and Mahaprasad to Navdurga.

Various Navratri Prasad or Bhog are served to the nine avatars of Durga, Navdurga. Navratri starts on Pratipada of Ashwin Shukla Paksha and concludes on Navmi tithi of Ashwin Shukla Paksha. Each day is for distinct forms of Goddess, and Special Prasad must be served on that particular day to impress the Goddess and receive blessings from her.

Navratri Prasad offered on Pratipada Tithi

Pratipada Tithi is the first day of Navratri, when Goddess Shailputri is honoured. Goddess Shailputri is the daughter of Himalaya, hence her name: Shail means mountain and Putri means daughter. The devotee must offer pure Ghee at the Goddess' feet and fast for the entire day. By doing so, the Goddess bestows upon the devotees a healthy and disease-free life. 

Navratri Prasad offered on Dwitiya Tithi

Goddess Brahmacharini, Goddess Durga's second form, is worshipped on Dwitiya Tithi. Goddess Parvati or Durga is known as Brahmacharini because she pondered before marrying Lord Shiva. Sugar should be provided to Goddess Brahmacharini, and the fast must be observed during the entire day. By doing this, the Goddess bestows longevity or long life on the followers and their entire family. 

Navratri Prasad offered on Tritiya Tithi

Goddess Chandraghanta, the third manifestation of Goddess Durga, is to be worshipped on Tritiya Tithi. The Goddess' name is Chandraghanta, and she has a half-moon on her head. Navratri Prasad requires devotees to fast and present milk or milk-based delicacies to the Goddess. The Goddess bestows joy and happiness on her worshipers while also protecting them from worldly afflictions.

Navratri Prasad offered on Chaturthi Tithi

On Chaturthi, the fourth day of Navratri, Goddess Kushmanda, the fourth form of Goddess Durga, is worshipped. In Hindu tradition, it is believed that the cosmos was produced from Goddess Kushmanda's abdomen. Devotees should present Malpua as prasad to Goddess Kushmanda and fast for the whole day. Offering Malpua in Goddess Durga's shrine is also considered auspicious. The Goddess bestows high intelligence and decision-making abilities to believers while also curing them of sicknesses and aches. 

Navratri Prasad offered on Panchami Tithi

Goddess Skandmata, the fifth form of Goddess Durga, will be worshipped on Panchami Tithi. Kumar Kartikeya is the son of Goddess Skandmata. The devotees need to obey fast and present a banana to the goddess. The Goddess grants the devotees' prayers and provides them with a healthy body. 

Navratri prasad offered on Shashthi Tithi

Goddess Katyayani should be worshipped on the sixth day, also known as Shashthi Tithi. Sage Katyayan is the father of Goddess Katyayani. Goddess Parvati was satisfied with the sage's meditation. So she gave birth to his daughter. Katyayani is the daughter of Sage Katyayan. Devotees are likely to become more appealing by providing honey as prasad to the Goddess and fasting on that day.

Navratri Prasad offered on Saptami Tithi

On Saptami Tithi, the seventh form of Goddess Durga, Goddess Kaalratri is worshipped. According to Hindu scriptures, Goddess Shakti removes all bad powers from the world, hence the name Kaalratri. The devotees must fast and offer jaggery prasad to the Goddess. The prasad must be served to a Brahmin with Dakshina. By performing this, devotees are freed of all worldly pains and lessen the frequency of unexpected sufferings. 

Navratri Prasad offered on Ashtami Tithi

Goddess Mahagauri, the eighth form of Goddess Durga, will be worshipped on Ashtami Tithi. She is known as Mahagauri because of her light complexion. Coconut prasad is to be offered to her. Fasting on that day would satisfy the Goddess, and she would grant you success in all aspects of your work. The Goddess grants a woman's wish to have a child after she has long desired to become a mother.

Navratri Prasad offered on Navami tithi

On Navami Tithi, worship Goddess Siddhidatri, the ninth form of Goddess Durga, with Navratri Prasad offerings. The Goddess fulfils all of the devotees' prayers, hence the name Siddhidatri (Siddhi means achievement). On that day, devotees must offer the Goddess prasad of til or sesame seeds and observe a fast. The Goddess alleviates the believers' fear of death and protects them from accidents.

Special Prasad items to be offered

If you are not able to do anything special during Navratri, then offer these Prasads to the Goddess. These have special importance in the Puja.
1- Coconut Laddu
2- Makhana Kheer
3- Semolina (Suji) Halwa
4- Malpua and
5- Sabudana Kheer
According to Hindu scriptures, the Goddess made a special appearance to free the Devas from the horror of the demons. The Goddess' mouth appeared from Lord Shiva's grandeur, as did her hair from Yamraj's brilliance. The Goddess' arms, chest, and waist appeared from Lord Vishnu, Moon, and Indra, respectively. The thigh and calf were formed from Varun's magnificence. The navel, foot, and fingers appeared from the grandeur of Earth, Lord Brahma, and Sun, respectively, as did the nose, brows, teeth, and three eyes from the grandeur of Vayu.
So Navdurga is regarded as the most powerful Goddess, and adoring her grants devotees' requests. They live a healthy and prosperous life. Devotees are urged to bring home the Saraswati Yantra during Navratri, which will most likely help them make better decisions in all aspects of their lives.
