According to Hindu scriptures, Vishwakarma is the heavenly architect of the universe. He created and crafted numerous divine weapons, including Lord Shiva's Trishul, Lord Vishnu's Sudarshana Chakra, Lanka King Ravana's Pushpaka Vimana, and Indra's Vajra, as well as Dwarka, Lord Krishna's territory, and the Pandavas' Maya Sabha.

Vishwakarma's architectural achievements are well-known in Hindu scriptures. Throughout the four 'yugas', he constructed various towns and palaces for the gods. In the "Satya yuga," he constructed the Swarg Lok, or heaven, the home of the gods and demigods, where Lord Indra reigns. Vishwakarma then constructed 'Sone ki Lanka' in "Treta yuga," the city of Dwarka in "Dwapar yuga," and Hastinapur and Indraprastha in "Kali yuga". Let's discuss some creations of Lord Vishwakarma, history of Vishwakarma people, mantra and Vishwakarma day celebration.┬а

RavanaтАЩs Sone ki Lanka or Golden Lanka

According to Hindu legend, 'Sone Ki Lanka' or Golden Lanka was where the demon king Ravana lived during the "Treta yuga." As described in the epic story Ramayana, this was also the location where Ravana held Sita, Lord Ram's wife, hostage.

There is also a backstory behind the construction of Golden Lanka. When Lord Shiva married Parvati, he instructed Vishwakarma to build them a lovely palace. Vishwakarma built a mansion out of gold! Shiva invited the knowledgeable Ravana to execute the "Griha Pravesh" ritual as part of the housewarming ceremony. Ravana, awestruck by the magnificence and grandeur of the palace, begged Shiva for the golden palace itself after the sacred rite in which Shiva asked Ravana to ask for anything in return as "Dakshina"! Shiva was compelled to grant Ravana's demand, and the Golden Lanka became Ravana's palace.┬а

Dwarka- Karma bhoomi of Lord Krishna

Viswakarma built several fabled towns, including Dwarka, Lord Krishna's capital. Lord Krishna is claimed to have resided at Dwarka during the Mahabharata period, when he established his "Karma Bhoomi" or base of operations. That is why this location in northern India has become a popular destination for Hindus.

Hastinapur - the capital of Kauravas and Pandavas

Vishwakarma is credited with constructing Hastinapur, the capital of the Kauravas and Pandavas, the warring families of the Mahabharata, during the current "Kali Yuga". After winning the battle of Kurukshetra, Lord Krishna appointed Dharmaraj Yudhisthir as king of Hastinapur.┬а

Indraprastha - Residence of Pandavas

Vishwakarma established the town of Indraprastha for the Pandavas. According to the Mahabharata, King Dhritrashtra offered the Pandavas a plot of land known as 'KhandavprasthaтАЩ to live on. Yudhishtir fulfilled his uncle's orders and moved to Khandavprastha with the Pandava brothers. Later, Lord Krishna asked Vishwakarma to construct a city for the Pandavas in this region, which he dubbed 'Indraprastha'.

Legends describe the architectural magnificence and beauty of Indraprastha. The palace's floors were so skillfully done that they reflected like water, and the pools and ponds inside the palace created the appearance of a level surface with no water. After the palace was completed, the Pandavas summoned the Kauravas, and Duryodhan and his brothers travelled to Indraprastha. Duryodhan, unaware of the palace's grandeur, was taken aback by the floors and pools and fell into one of them. Draupadi, Pandavas wife, laughed heartily as she observed this scenario! She answered, alluding to Duryodhan's father (the blind monarch Dhritrashtra), "the son of a blind man is bound to be blind."
Draupadi's comment irritated Duryodhan so much that it became a key cause of the Kurukshetra war, as chronicled in the Mahabharata and the Bhagavad Gita.┬а

History of the Vishwakarma People

For almost 5000 years, the Vishwakarma people have been recognized as the primary source of all arts, architectural intelligence, and the creators of Hindu religion and temples throughout India. They originate from Sri Vishwakarma's Five Sons Inheritance. Their names are Manu (Black Smiths), Maya (Carpenters), Twosta (Tinsmiths), Silpy (Sculptors), and Viswajna (Gold Smiths). From the first invader, Greek Alexander, to all subsequent invaders, foreign visitors and tourists have been amazed and fascinated by their creations, which include temples, sculptures, weapons, gold, metal, and wooden objects.
However, today, 90% of the Vishwakarma people are impoverished, illiterate, and unemployed. Because they forget to worship their main deities, Sri Vishwakarma and Sri Gayathri Devi. Swamiji Maharaj SriSri Vishwakarmaputra Maharishi, Uttar Pradesh, has pointed these facts with much grief. Some Vishwakarma people questioned who they were. Saiva, or Vaishnava? True Vishwakarma people are not both Saiva and Vaishnava. Essentially, Hindu Dharma or Religion incorporates many other religions and rules. They include Saiva (God Shiva's religion), Vaishnava (God Vishnu's religion), Ganapathya (God Ganesh's religion), Sowmar (God Sun's religion), Gowmar (God Karthikeya's religion), Sakkiya (Goddess Parvathi's religion), and others.
Vishwakarma, for example, means not just a distinct race but also a special religion, and it is the most important religion in Hinduism. Basically, we forgot or are forgetting this. That mistake is the root cause of all of their problems. Vishwakarma people are mentioned in the Vedas as a special creation. They were not created by Sri Brahma, who also created humans, animals, birds, and so on. Sri Vishwakarma, the creator of all gods and the entire universe, created Vishwakarma people from five heads. They have distinct identities, rites, rituals, and individual heritage. If they follow the procedures as closely as possible, they will be able to create a new history similar to that of their ancestors.

Vishwakarma Mantra

"Om shree shrishtinathaya sarvasidhhaya vishwakarmaya namo namah"

About Vishwakarma Day

┬аVishwakarma Day honours Vishwakarma, an Indian divinity. Vishvakarma was the divine architect and one of the fourteen beautiful objects created by the Samudra manthan. He built the holy city of Dwarka, where Lord Krishna presided, as well as the Pandavas' Maya Sabha, and created numerous fantastic weapons for the gods. He is also known as the divine carpenter, appears in the Rig Veda, and is credited with the Sthapatya Veda, a knowledge of mechanics and architecture. It is observed on September 16 or 17 (in various Indian states, including Karnataka, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, and Tripura). The holiday is predominantly celebrated in factories and industrial districts, frequently on the shop floor.

Vishwakarma has been renowned as the heavenly engineer since the Puranic era. He is revered by all professionals, not just the engineering and architectural communities. On this day, artisans, craftsmen, mechanics, smiths, welders, industrial workers, factory workers, and workers of all types worship Lord Vishwakarma and pray for a brighter future, safer working conditions, and, most importantly, success in their respective industries. Workers also pray for the proper operation of various machines. Craftsmen often worship their tools in His name. Workers refrain from utilizing their tools while doing so. Special sculptures and portraits of Lord Vishwakarma are typically erected in every workplace and factory. All workers assemble in one common spot to perform the pooja.
According to Indian scriptures, Vishwakarma Puja (reverence) is observed the day following Diwali, with Govardhan Puja.
