Aum - symbol of god
Tryambakam- lord shiva
Yajaamahe- meditating
Sugandhim- su means good and gandha means fragrance.
Pushtivardhanam- nurturing to be healthy and strong
Urvaarukamiva- urva means powerful, aarukamiva means disease
Bandhanaan- boundation/ Actually longer than the ending.
Mrityormuksheeya- wants protection from problems and even from death.
Maamritaat- give some amrit to protect from disease and cycle of rebirth.
Simply, it Means This mantra means that we worship Lord Shiva, who has three eyes, who infuses life force in every breath and nurtures the entire world.

2. Purification of conscience: While chanting, keep the mind pure and concentrate on the meaning of the mantra.
Don’t-
1. Never do mantra chanting without taking a bath. Always make sure to wear clean clothes while chanting.
2. The place shouldn’t be dirty. The place where you are doing mantra chanting should be clean and quiet.
3. Never sit on the ground directly. Always use an ‘Asana’ to sit on the ground while chanting.
4. You shouldn’t mispronounce any word of Mantra.
Best time to chant:
1. Time before sunrise (Brahma Muhurta)
2. Evening time
Can women chant while menstruating?
According to some beliefs, women should not chant mantras during menstruation. However, some beliefs also say that Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is a purification mantra and can be chanted. For this, you can take advice from a Pandit.
How many times should a mantra be chanted in a day?
You can chant as per your devotion. Ideally, chanting 108 times is considered auspicious. You can increase or decrease the number of chanting as per your capacity.
