Vijaya Ekadashi Legend:
Legend has it that when Mother Sita was taken to Lanka by Lankapati Ravana during Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram's exile in the Treta Yug, Lord Shri Ram decided to travel there with Sugriva's approval. Upon viewing the deep sea's population of ferocious aquatic creatures as Shri Ram and his army arrived at the shore, he cried out to Lakshmanji, "O Sumitranandan! We plan to cross this ocean in the splendour of that goodness. Lakshman Ji then exclaimed, "O Puran Purushottam! You are the first man, so you are an expert. Go to Bakdalabhya Muni and ask him the solution; his hermitage is half a kilometre away from here. Shri Ram went after Laxman ji's recommendation. Vijaya Ekadashi Katha, a Falgun Krishna Ekadashi tale
This narrative claims that Maryada Purushottam Shri Ramchandraji, Shri Laxman, and Sitaji moved to Panchavati while he spent fourteen years in exile in Tretayug. When Sitaji was kidnapped by the demon Ravana, Shri Ramchandraji and Lakshmana were shocked and proceeded in search of Sitaji. After giving him the Sitaji narrative while still alive, Jatayu, who was wandering around, passed away and entered paradise.
He went a step further and killed Bali while befriending Sugriva. Hanumanji searched for Sitaji in Lanka and told her about the friendship between Shri Ramchandraji and Sugriva. Hanumanji came back from there and informed Lord Rama of everything. Shri Ramchandraji and the monkey army departed towards Lanka with Sugriva's belongings.
When Shri Ramchandraji arrived at the coast from the water and noticed that the deep sea was full of crocodiles and other dangerous creatures, he asked Laxmanji how they would cross it. O Puran Purushottam, you are the Adipurush, you know everything, remarked Shri Lakshman. Half a kilometre away, on Kumari Island, a sage by the name of Vakdalabhya resides. You go to him and ask him for the solution because he has seen many Brahmans.
Shri Ramchandraji went to Vakdalabhya Rishi and sat down after proving him after hearing Laxmanji's remarks. Considering him to be Puran Purushottam in human form, Muni questioned him, "O Ram!" How have you arrived? Ramchandraji began by exclaiming, "O sage! To defeat the demons, I have brought my army here and will be travelling to Lanka. Please provide me with a means of crossing the ocean. I have come to you because of this.
O Ram, Vakdalabhya Rishi stated that. You will undoubtedly win and cross the ocean if you keep the best fast on the Ekadashi of the Krishna Paksha of the Falgun month. Therefore, by fasting on this Ekadashi, Lord Shri Ram defeated Ravana.
