Then God Brahma decided to perform the Yajna at Pushkar Lake. However, Goddess Saraswati (his consort) was delayed in arriving at the lake. To start the Yajna on time, Lord Brahma married a local woman named Gayatri who helped him complete the ritual timely. After Goddess Saraswati arrived, she was enraged in anger and cursed Lord Brahma that he would no longer be worshipped by the devotees.
