Parvati asks Shiva about a vrat that could grant women worldly prosperity and spiritual merit, and he recounts the tale of Charumathi. Simple as that.

Charumathi, a devout woman from the town of Kundinyapura, was completely devoted to her family. Pleased with her sincerity, Goddess Lakshmi appeared in her dream and instructed her to perform the Varalaxmi Vrat. Charumathi didn't hesitate. She shared the dream with her family and other women in the town, and together they performed the puja with immense faith. The results were immediate and life-changing. Their homes were filled with wealth, grains, and jewels, and they lived long, happy lives. This story (or Katha) is what solidifies the vrat's power in the hearts of devotees.

Varalaxmi Vrat Puja Vidhi: A Step-by-Step Guide

Performing the puja correctly is everything. This vidhi is based on traditional practices followed by Vaidik pandits and is designed to be accessible for devotees at home. Don't skip any steps.

1. Preparation (Sankalp): You must wake up before sunrise, during the Brahma Muhurat. After a ritual bath, wear clean, traditional clothes. Clean the entire house, especially the puja area, and create a beautiful rangoli.
