The Transformative Tale of Loombak

Mahishmita was the King of Champavati, a vast kingdom that existed once. The monarch had four sons, the eldest of them was named Loombak. He was a sinner because he engaged in clandestine relationships with other people's wives. He even ate meat and gambled. Furthermore, he dabbled in prostitution. He possessed such terrible intelligence that even his father's money vanished from him. He used to be envious of the demigods, believing that he alone dominated the universe and would punish them. He also insulted Brahmins and Vaishnavas while he got the chance.┬а┬а

King saw Loombak's actions and realized they were not intended to ask for forgiveness. He abandoned his son, even expelling him from the house.

This upset Loombak, leaving him confused what to do. But he had a nasty mind, so he planned to stay in the forest during the day and attack people at night. He then started thieving people at night and hiding in the forest during the day to hunt and eat animal meat. People frequently apprehended him but abandoned him since they knew he was the King's son, and the King would grow enraged when he discovered we had punished him. After that, Loombak began living under a banyan tree to increase his wicked lifestyle. He began and ended each day with sins.

He did not sleep one night during Saphala Ekadashi because of the cold and shivered the entire time. The following day of Saphala Ekadashi, he thought his health was deteriorating because he lacked the energy to even wake up and stand. He didn't even have the strength to hunt animals in the wild and consume their flesh. So he began collecting the fruits that had fallen from the trees and returned under the Banyan tree. He became very agitated at night after keeping the fruits under the tree. He began praying to Lord Hari, asking Him to have mercy on him and take the fruits as a tribute.┬а

After presenting those fruits to Sri Krishna that night, he couldn't sleep again owing to the cold. He mistakenly observed the Ekadashi fast and presented fruits to Lord Krishna. As a result, Hari was pleased with the service and bestowed a blessing upon him. The following day, a white horse appeared and stood by Loombak. He was shocked to find an Akashvani: your anguish has ended owing to Vasudev's kindness, since you followed Saphala Ekadashi. So your dominion has been returned to you. You can sit on the horse and travel to preserve your father's country.

Loombak lay on his horse and began controlling his father's country. Following that, he became a devout follower of Lord Krishna while managing the country effectively. In addition to chanting Hare Krishna, he began fasting on Ekadashi. When he grew old, he passed on his kingdom to his children while meditating and adoring Krishna. He continued on to Golok after giving up his earthly body and all of his materialistic pursuits. Krishna claimed that everybody who hears this story will receive Rajsu Yagya as a result. And, the person who performs kirtan of his name on the nights of Saphala Ekadashi shall reap the benefits of Earth's persistence throughout the last 5000 years.

Spiritual Importance of Observing Saphala Ekadashi

The ancient "Brahmanda Purana" includes a passage between Lord Krishna and King Yudhisthira that explains and demonstrates the significance of Saphala Ekadashi. According to legendary writings, the devotee who observes a rigorous and holy fast on Saphala Ekadashi is supposed to obtain more benefits than the person who performs 1000 Ashvamedha Yagas, incorporating 100 Rajasuya Yagas.

The eve is celebrated as the holy day on which one might turn their poor luck into a productive future and receive good fortune by removing their sadness, life's hardships, and unfavorable situations. Saphala Ekadashi can help a devotee achieve all of his/her goals, desires, and dreams. It also provides their spirit with absolute tranquility.┬а┬а

Divine Glories Mentioned in Scriptures

Saphala Ekadasi, also known as Pausha-Krishna Ekadasi, is a holy day when people worship Lord Narayana, the governing god. This must be accomplished via the practice of fasting.

In accordance with Lord Krishna, everyone who properly adheres to Ekadasi grows close to him. On this day, a devotee must worship the Lord by offering fresh fruits at the appropriate time, occasion, and location. Devotees must also meditate on God, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. On the auspicious day of Ekadasi, they can also offer incense, ghee lamps, and other aromatic spices.┬а┬а┬а

Rewards of Fasting and Devotion

The main advantage of fasting on Ekadashi is that it can make anyone virtuous. Meanwhile, it can absolve the individual's sins from previous births and even this one. This fast also earns Lord Vishnu's blessings while providing happiness, prosperity, and tranquility in a family. On this day, practicing vrat and fasting can provide the blessings of a thousand years of penance. The day's fast provides more benefits than taking a holy bath in the Ganges following Surya Grahan (the solar eclipse). Saphala Ekadashi vrat, when practiced with devotion and sincerity, may cleanse one's head and heart, preparing one to enter Moksha after death.┬а┬а┬а┬а
