In Hinduism, Ekadashi is regarded as one of the finest days and has particular importance. According to the Hindu calendar, today marks the eleventh day of the lunar phase. The Amalaki Ekadashi falls during the Shukla Paksha of the month of Phalgun. In the Hindu religion, the day is particularly auspicious and is intended to worship Lord Shri Hari Vishnu in the shape of the "Amla" (Gooseberry) tree. Amla is particularly important in Hinduism since it is stated that when Lord Vishnu gave birth to Lord Brahma to create the cosmos, he also gave birth to the Amla tree. As a result, the Amalaki Ekadashi is also known as the Amla Ekadashi.
Amalaki Ekadashi Significance:
The Amalaki Ekadashi is particularly important in Hinduism because it is thought that fasting on this day and worshiping the Amla tree with entire dedication and sincerity will help the devotee gain salvation. The Amla tree is associated with Lord Vishnu, and it is thought that Lord Shri Vishnu and Lady Lakshmi live in it. On this day, Lord Shri Vishnu's statue is kept under an amla tree and worshiped by offering gooseberries in order to gain salvation and free oneself of all difficulties.
Amalaki Ekadashi Vrat Katha:
According to Puranic legends, Lord Shri Hari Vishnu gave birth to Lord Brahma from his navel in order for Lord Brahma to create the cosmos. Lord Brahma desired to really know himself and everything about his existence one day. Then he began meditating intensely in the name of Parabrahma, Lord Shri Vishnu, with tremendous devotion. Lord Vishnu was pleased with Lord Brahma and chose to come into his presence.
Parabrahma began sobbing as soon as he came in front of Lord Brahma, and his tears fell on Lord Vishnu's feet, transforming them into an Amla tree. As a result, Lord Shri Hari Vishnu said that this tree would be extremely beloved to him and that any devotee who worshipped it on the day of the Amalaki Ekadashi would be awarded redemption and be cleansed of all sins.
Amalaki Ekadashi's second narrative is about a king called Chitrasena, who was an ardent disciple of Lord Vishnu. He used to observe the Amalaki Ekadashi fast and thereby earned the celestial blessings of Lord Vishnu. He was once out hunting with his troops when he was caught by tribal guys. The king and his warriors were seized and imprisoned.
They consented to perform the ceremonial sacrifice of the King's life in order to honor their deity. The King then lost consciousness and slumped. When a ray of light emerged from his corpse, all the tribal males were slaughtered. As the king regained consciousness, a divine voice informed him that he had been spared because to the virtues and benefits of fully observing the Amalaki Ekadashi fast.
