Baba Baidyanath Dham, is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. Baidyanath Dham holds immense historical and religious significance in India. According to Hindu mythology, the story of Baba Baidyanath Dham is linked to the legend of Lord Shiva and his wife Goddess Parvati. It is believed that during a conflict between Lord Shiva and the demon Ravana, who was a great devotee of Lord Shiva, Ravana sought to take the Lingam (an abstract representation of Shiva) to Lanka. To prevent this, Lord Vishnu tricked Ravana, and he placed the Lingam down at Deoghar, where it became known as Baba Baidyanath Dham.


It is believed that a pilgrimage to Baba Baidyanath Dham grants spiritual purification and blessings from Lord Shiva. Devotees come seeking solace, blessings, and fulfilment of their wishes. The temple draws millions of devotees every year, especially during the holy month of Shravan (July-August), when devotees undertake a pilgrimage to offer holy water from the Ganges River to the Lingam at Baba Baidyanath Dham.
