The history of the Jagannath Puri Temple is an intriguing narrative. A monarch called Viswavasu secretly worshipped Lord Jagannath as Lord Neela Madhaba in a wilderness. King Indradyumna wanted to learn more about the god, so he dispatched Vidyapati, a Brahmin priest, to Viswavasu. Vidyapati's efforts to locate the location were futile. But he fell in love with and married Viswavasu's daughter, Lalita. Then, at Vidyapati's request, Viswavasu blindfolded his son-in-law and led him to the cave where he worshipped Lord Jagannath.

Vidyapati the wise scattered mustard seeds on the ground on the way. Following this, King Indradyumna led Odisha to the Deity. The idol, however, was not present. According to the Shiva Purana, Brahma and Vishnu previously disagreed about who was the creator's highest being. Shiva used the jyotirlinga, an infinite shaft of light, to pierce the three realms and put them to the test. In order to reach the light's end, Vishnu and Brahma choose to move up and down the pillar, respectively. While Vishnu admitted defeat, Brahma made up the idea that he had found the end. The city of Ujjain, known to the Puranas as Avantika, was renowned for its beauty and its role as the centre of devotion. The story says that Chandrasen, the ruler of Ujjain, was a devout follower of Lord Shiva and always offered adoration to him. A little kid from a nearby farm named Shrikhar once heard the King chant the Lord's name while he was roaming about the royal grounds. He immediately ran to the temple to join the monarch in prayer. However, the guards forcibly removed him from the area and dumped him close to the River Kshipra on the city's outskirts. Around this time, rivals of Ujjain, particularly King Ripudaman and King Singhaditya of the nearby kingdoms, resolved to assault the Kingdom and seize its resources. When Shrikhar learned about this, he began to pray, and Vridhi, a local priest, also heard about it. After being horrified to learn this, he began to pray to Lord Shiv inside River Kshipra at his sons' pleading. The Kings made the decision to attack and were successful; with the aid of the formidable demon Dushan, who was given the gift of invisibility by Lord Brahma, they pillaged the city and attacked every Shiva devotee. Lord Shiva manifested in his Mahakal form and vanquished King Chandrasen's foes after hearing the cries of His afflicted worshippers.

Another major feature of the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple is its architecture, which is a flawless fusion of Bhumija, Maratha, and Chalukya traditions. <h3>Temple History:</h3>
The temple is located on the ancient Triveni Sangam where the three rivers - Kapila, Hiran, and Saraswati combine. The temple had to be rebuilt several times because it was destroyed as much as seventeen times by emperors like Mahmud Ghazni, Alauddin Khilji, and Aurangzeb.
Legends state that the first temple was built by Somraj (the moon god) and it was made of gold; this was rebuilt by Ravana in silver, by Krishna in wood, and by Bhimdev in stone. The story about the origin of the Jyortirling is also mentioned in the legend.&nbsp;
It states that the Moon God was married to 27 of King Daksha's daughters but he was partial to one. This caused his other wives to become jealous and complain to their father. Daksha put a curse on Soma which would cause him to wane. In order to get rid of this curse, Soma constructed a Shivlinga and prayed to Lord Shiva for forgiveness. Lord Shiva helped him but the curse was not completely removed. This is what caused the periodic waning of the moon.

The Somnath temple is known to be the first Jyotirlinga among all of the 12 Jyotirlingas in Hindu mythology. It is said that Lord Shiva appeared as a fiery column, making the Shiva Lingam a Swayambhu. The city of Dwarka can also be seen in the epic Mahabharata as the Dwarka kingdom, situated at the banks of river Gomati. As of today when we visit any famous and popular religious and pilgrimage destination we have this expectation of the place to be crowded and overpopulated with both the local people and tourists from all over the world. But Dwarka city is actually a quiet, calm and peaceful place. But let it not hallucinate you with expectations of no crowd at all. There were situations of stampedes within the main Dwarkadhish temple from time to time.&nbsp;
<h3>Who built Dwarkadhish Temple?</h3>
According to Hindu mythological traditions, it is believed that Dwarkadhish Temple was built by Lord Krishna’s grandson Vajranabha around two thousand (2000) years ago and later expanded around the 15th and 16th centuries. It is also believed that the original Dwarkadhish temple built by Vajranabha was destroyed by Sultan Mahmud Begada around the fall of the 14th century. Later it was rebuilt by Raja Jagat Rathore.

The recent establishment of the temple is in Chalukyan style consisting of beautifully carved stone which has minute details inscribed by the successors which ruled over that region from time to time, and was reconstructed mainly with limestone around the 15th and 16th centuries. The highest peak of the temple is 51.28 metres having a height of seventy eight (78) metres with a fifty two (52) yard long triangular flag of the Sun and the Moon depicting the existence of Lord Krishna till the existence of the Sun and the Moon is hoisted on the top of the temple with multilayered spire. This particular triangular flag is replaced four (4) to five (5) times a day by a new flag. Therefore, most of the devotees pay a huge sum of donations to the charity so that the expenditure of the new flag can be covered with the love they showered. The east-facing main Shrine of the Dwarkadhish temple is a five storied beautiful architecture building aided by seventy two (72) pillars known as Jagat Mandir or Nija Mandir, with sixty (60) pillars made of sandstone situated at a height of 12.19 metres which is near about forty (40) feet.&nbsp;

Outside the doors, there are fifty six (56) steps that lead to the Gomati river Apart from the main shrine consisting of the Trivikrama form of Lord Vishnu, there are two (2) other chambers on both of its sides. The left chamber of the shrine consists of the altar of the elder brother of Lord Krishna, Lord Balarama and the right chamber of the shrine consists of the altar of Aniruddha and Pradyumna who are the grandson and son of Lord Krishna. Apart from the main shrine, there are several other shrines surrounding the main shrine consisting of the altar of goddess Radha, Lakshmi, Jambavati and Satyabhama. Devaki was the mother of Lord Krishna whereas Radha Rani was the dearest of Lord Krishna. Depicting the strong bonds and relationship of Lord Krishna with both of them, there is another shrine dedicated to them which is present just in front of the main central Dwarkadhish Temple.&nbsp;
<h3>Some facts and legends of Dwarkadhish Temple:</h3>
1. It is said that Sage Durvasa cursed Rukmini when Rukmini got thirsty pulling the chariot of Durvasa after which the water provided by Lord Krishna to Rukmini was drunk by her without offering it to Sage Durvasa. This made Sage Durvasa very angry and cursed her to remain there forever. Therefore it is believed that the place where Rukmini’s shrine is found today on a barren land, two (2) kilometres outside of the town of Dwarka is the place where this incident took place.&nbsp;
2. It is said that the famous Rajput Princess Meera Bai merged with the deity of the Dwarkadhish temple.&nbsp;

Train/Railway:
The nearest railway station is the Dwarka Railway Station which is about 1 kms from the main Dwarkadhish temple and the only train leaving New Delhi for Dwarka is Uttaranchal express. But do refer to your private booking agency or IRCTC for correct information regarding the train journey.&nbsp;
Air / Flight:
Jamnagar Airport is the nearest airport at a distance of about forty five (45) kms to the City of Dwarka. Thereafter, the tourists and devotees can commute to the Dwarkadhish temple via taxi or bus. Air India and Star Air are the only two (2) airlines that fly to Jamnagar Airport.&nbsp;
Rental Vehicles:
Cabs and taxis are the optimal and convenient option. Ola, Uber, Meeru or any other private tourism vehicles are suitable for groups. For single visitors, you can opt for Rapido or ola bike
Bus:

Mahaganapati Temple Ranjangaon

Ranjangaon Ganpati Temple is also called the Shri Mahaganpati Temple. It is a Hindu dedicated to Lord Ganesha, one of the most praised deities in Hinduism. The temple is situated in the Ranjangaon village in the Pune district of Maharashtra. The stories related to the Mahaganapati temple at Ranjangaon are given below: Demon Tripurasur: When a demon called Tripurasur terrorized the whole world, then Lord Shiva tried to defeat Tripurasura but without the blessings of Lord Ganesha, he was unable to defeat him. Then, Lord Shiva sought blessings from Lord Ganesha and defeated Tripurasura at the place where Mahaganapati temple was built at Ranjangaon. The Khollam Family: Another story related to the temple is that the Khollam family was the goldsmith family from the Ranjangaon. They donated the Ganesha idol to the temple at Mahaganapathi temple, Ranjangaon. The Peshwas: The Peshwas are the ones who had kept the idol of Mahaganapati in the room in the basement of the temple. Madhavrao Peshwa was the one who did that. Later on, Sardar Kibe from Indore renovated it.

<h3>Architecture of the temple:</h3>
The temple is constructed in a way that when the Sun turns towards the southward (Dakshinayana) direction, the sun rays fall at the main vigraha of Lord Ganesha. It has a Hindu style of architecture that consists of a main gate, an assembly hall, and a wooden hall. The temple has a large main gate facing towards the east direction. The idol of Mahaganapati is seated in a cross-legged position, with a broad forehead and trunk towards the left. The Nagarkhana resides over the entrance gate towards the passageway. The stonework of the temple was done at the personal expense of Sardar Malharrao Holkar and Mahadji Shinde. The temple was built during the Peshwa rule and Madhavrao Peshwa used to visit the temple often.

Holi festival: The Holi festival is celebrated on the Phalgu Shudh Poornima, which falls in the month of Phalgun, and during this time (February or March), devotees gather and play Holi with colors and flowers at the temple.

By car: While going from the highway of Pune-Nagar, the route is to go to Pune, then Koregaon, and then via Shikrapur, Ranjangaon is 21 km before Shirur. Basically, it is 50 km from Pune. The temple is visible from Highway. By Bus: you can take a bus from Pune's Shivaji Nagar Bus Stand to Ranjangaon.

If you are planning to visit the sacred Shri Mahaganpati Temple, then you should visit the temple in winter from October to March. Best time to visit the temple is Morning or Evening (to avoid the afternoon heat).

Tarapith Temple | Folklore | Interesting Stories

Tarapith Temple has been a spiritual generator, attracting many pilgrims, who long for priceless treasures and a group of tantric practitioners who long for mysterious power. Tarapith is famous for the Tara Ma Temple and Sadhan Pith Temple in Sadhak Bamakhyapa. It is a place of worship in the village of Tarapur under Rampurhat police station of Birbhum District. It is believed that the eyeball (Tara) of Sati fell here.

Tarapith Maha Sasan is an auspicious location next to Tarapith Temple. It is well-known for the Tantric rituals that are done here. Goddess (Goddess Tara) predominates here in the form of a sparkling of light, similar to a "Star" (meaning of Tara in Hindi, Sanskrit, Bengali, and other languages), a terrifying Tantric element of Adhya-Shakti.

When one of the seven sages, Vashishta, wandered the earth in flesh and blood, he worshipped the goddess Tara for a specific reason. However, the saint was disappointed because no matter how long he thought about the goddess, he could not use her Da clan. The main temple is a marble block building with a curving roof called dochala covering its four sides. With its dochala, a tiny tower with four sides emerges from behind this construction.
The Tarapith Temple's foundation is exceptionally thick, and the walls are composed of red bricks. The picture of God is preserved in the room's attic. Maa Tara is a stone figure in the shape of Shiva, the mother nursing.
Another three-foot metal figure of Maa Tara is depicted in a fiery form, with four arms wearing garlands and all the skulls with their heads out of their necks. The figure has a silver crown on top and flowing hair.
<h3>Puja and Celebrations:</h3>
Tarapith Temple celebrates Sankranti Mela Festival on every Sankranti day in Hindu month, Dola Purnima Festival in February / March, Basantika Parba Festival in Chaitra, and Gamha Purnima.&nbsp;
Chaitra Parva is a summer celebration conducted every Tuesday in Chaitra month. Tarapith Amawasaya, held in August each year, is another highly important and well-known event conducted in the temple. Puja is held in the temple from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. every day. Devi Tara awakens every morning at 4:00 a.m. to the sound of Shahnai and other instruments and then begins to worship.
Before entering the temple grounds to offer adoration and even thereafter, worshippers take a holy wash in the hallowed tank adjacent to the temple. The tank's waters are supposed to have therapeutic properties and can even bring the dead back to life.
Goat blood sacrifices are popular at the temple. Devotees who give goat sacrifices seek the deity's favour. Before the sacrifice, the goats are bathed in the sacred tank near the temple. Before giving adoration to the god, they also cleanse themselves by bathing in the sacred tank. The goat is then chained to a stake in a sand pit, and the goat's neck is slaughtered with a single blow using a special blade. A tiny amount of the goat's blood is then gathered in a vase and presented to the temple's god. As a sign of respect for the god, believers smear a drop of blood from the pit on their forehead.
